QNAP TS-259 Pro Turbo NASMar 2nd, 2010 | By Simon
The QNAP TS-259 Pro requires you to install your own hard drives to set the capacity of your NAS. Regardless of whether you choose 2X40GB or 2X2TB, the Turbo NAS’ capability is still the same. Each hard drive sits in its own hot-swappable drive cage. The bottom is perforated giving some circulation to the bottom of the drive. Mounting each drive is very simple – if you choose to use 3.5″ hard drives you will need four screws per drive but if you use a 2.5″ hard drive you will need to use the three smaller screws per drive.
Once the drives have been inserted into the Turbo NAS you must close the lever to ensure the drive is pushed into the back where the SATA data and power connection can be made. The drives can be locked into the Turbo NAS if you are concerned about unauthorized access and potential theft.
Once you have your two drives installed, you will need to provide power and network connection to the device. I hope in the near future that QNAP will be able to integrate a small power supply to eliminate the AC power adapter.
