Synology Disk Station DS210j

RAID 1 mirrors your hard drives so each stores the same information. If one drive fails, the second drive will still have your data. This test was only conducted with two drives in use. As you can expect, the performance will decrease to allow for mirroring. With the effects of mirroring, I’m not surprised to see the read rates to be slightly slower. That said, the Marvell processor does an excellent job in managing the system to reduce the impact of mirroring data. The peak write/re-writer transfer rate is just shy of 60MB/s with an average of 45MB/s.

The reader and re-reader results are not as impacted by the mirroring drive configuration. The average is still in the 45MB/s.

  1. Quote : “Intel 1.066 Atom processor found in the 209+II”
Wrong, DS209+II has Freecsale mpc8533 PPC Processor, only DS710+ and DS1010+ have Intel Atom procs.
